Dodging Doors - Riding in traffic, there's always a risk of someone in a parked car unknowingly opening their car door and striking you as you ride past, which is called getting "doored" and can be a serious accident. To avoid it, always ride at least three feet from parked cars, look inside parked vehicles for drivers ready to exit, never pass vehicles on the right, and always exercise extreme caution when a car stops in front of you or double parks in your path. Also, remember that it's perfectly legal to move out of the bike lane if a hazard such as a parked car exists.

A small device that's usually attached to the frame to keep the chain from falling off the small front chainring when you shift onto it. This is sometimes an issue with compact cranksets that have a bigger difference in the chainring sizes.
